What you give up (honest take)
LibreCam is newer. CompanyCam has been around since 2015 and has a larger support team, more integrations, and a bigger user community. If you need phone support from a dedicated rep, CompanyCam's paid plans include that. LibreCam offers community support and email support. We're open about this because we think the savings and the data portability are worth it for most contractors — but it's your call.
A note about CompanyCam
We compare ourselves to CompanyCam because we're actually big fans. They identified a real problem — contractors losing photos, wasting time on manual reports, dealing with he-said-she-said disputes — and built a solid product around it. The construction industry is better off because CompanyCam exists. We just believe it's better for contractors to have multiple good options. Competition keeps everyone honest, prices fair, and products improving. That's why we built LibreCam: not to tear CompanyCam down, but to give you a choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
For core job photo documentation — capture, organize, annotate, share, report — yes. LibreCam covers the same workflow. We add offline-first reliability, unlimited free viewers, voice captions, and bilingual support. CompanyCam has more integrations and a larger support team. We're catching up.
If you're happy with CompanyCam and the per-user cost isn't an issue, you may not need to switch. But if the seat tax is adding up, you're frustrated with upload issues, or you want your data in an open system — LibreCam is worth trying. It's free, so there's no risk.
Yes. We recommend running both in parallel for 2 weeks before switching. There's no conflict. When you're confident in LibreCam, cancel CompanyCam.
We integrate with Jobber and ServiceTitan, which covers most contractors. More integrations are coming. If you need a specific integration we don't have yet, let us know.
