How to Create Daily Reports from Job Photos
Your photos already tell the story. Here's how to turn them into reports without starting from scratch.
The report you should be writing (but probably aren't)
A good daily report takes 30 minutes to write. So most contractors skip it. But daily reports are your protection — against disputes, delay claims, and the 'I never approved that' conversations. The good news: you're already taking photos. The report is just structure around photos you've already captured. Weather, timestamps, GPS — your phone already knows all of this. You just need a system to pull it together.
How to do it
Capture throughout the day
Take photos as work happens — arrivals, work in progress, deliveries, issues. Use voice captions to note what you're seeing. Don't wait until the end of the day.
Organize by category
Group your photos into sections: weather, crews on site, work performed, deliveries, and issues. Most of this can be done with tags at capture.
Generate the report
Select the day's photos, tap Generate, and let LibreCam build the report. Weather is pulled automatically. Timestamps and GPS are already embedded. Add any notes and export as PDF.
What to include in every daily report
Weather, date, and crew
Start with the basics — date, weather conditions, and who was on site. LibreCam fills in weather automatically from your location.
Work performed
List what was accomplished today with photo references. 'Installed upper cabinets in kitchen (see photos 3-6)' is the level of detail you need.
Deliveries received
Document what arrived, from whom, and in what condition. This is especially important if something arrives damaged — your photos are the proof.
Issues and delays
Note anything that went wrong or caused a delay — weather, missing materials, inspection hold-ups. These notes protect you later.
Frequently Asked Questions
With LibreCam, about 2 minutes. Select the day's photos, review the auto-generated content, add any notes, and export.
Yes. Export as PDF and send via email or text. Or share a live project link so stakeholders can see updates without waiting for you to send them.
You can add photos later and back-date them, but it's best to capture as you go. Set a reminder for key times — morning arrival, after lunch, and end of day.
